What is DóndeLoPonen?
DóndeLoPonen grew out of a pretty simple problem: knowing where to watch a sporting event.
It all started with Fabio. His father lives in Italy, his brother in London and he lives in Spain. Every day he wanted to send them a selection of the main sporting events and, above all, tell them where they could watch them: which channel was showing them in Italy, which one in the UK and which one in Spain.
At first he solved it with an automated daily email. Every morning a selection of matches and other sporting events arrived, each with its TV channels and streaming platforms.
But the automation didn’t always work as it should. Some days the email didn’t arrive, other days information was missing, and keeping it reliable turned out to be harder than expected.
That’s where the idea came from: if this information was useful every day to three people living in three different countries, it could probably be useful to a lot more people too.
And there was a second problem.
Fabio lives in Valencia and, whenever his friends Gigi and Claudio want to go out to watch a match —usually Italian football—, the same question always comes up:
“Where’s it on?”
Finding a sports bar or a pub on Google Maps is easy. The hard part is knowing whether that place is going to show the exact match you want to watch.
A bar might have several TVs, DAZN, Movistar, Sky or other platforms, but that doesn’t mean it will put your match on. You can find ten sports bars near you and still not know which one will show Juventus-Inter, a Formula 1 race or a EuroLeague game.
In the end, far too often the only option is to call them one by one and ask.
DóndeLoPonen sets out to solve exactly those two problems.
If you’re staying in
We tell you where you can watch the event on TV or streaming, based on the country you want to watch it from.
If you’re going out
We show you venues in your city that have confirmed they will show that event.
That confirmation is a key part of DóndeLoPonen.
We don’t want to be Google Maps or build yet another sports bar directory. Google Maps already does that job perfectly well.
Nor do we want to be Marca, Eurosport, La Gazzetta dello Sport or a site for scores, news, stats and line-ups. There are already excellent sites for all of that.
DóndeLoPonen wants to do something much more specific:
“tell you where you can watch the sport you want to watch.”
At home, in front of the TV or your computer.
Or out, at a venue that has confirmed it will really show it.
Because finding a bar is easy.
“Knowing where your match is on isn’t always.”
